Iraqi Cuisine Flavors Workshop
An Iraqi cooking workshop is an exciting journey into the heart of the traditional cuisine of one of Israel’s oldest and most beloved communities. It’s not just a culinary workshop – it’s a cultural, emotional, and family experience.
During the workshop, you will learn to prepare symbolic and folk dishes, such as:
Beetroot Kuba / Kuba Hamosta – includes preparing the semolina, the filling, and the soup.
Chicken Tabitha – rice with chicken that cooks for hours in a closed pot, with the aromas of cinnamon and tomatoes.
Beets and Swiss chard with Persian lemon – a sour-spicy side dish that reminds me of grandma's house.
Salona (vegetable and meat stew in a rich red sauce).
Fried sambosk – crispy dough filled with lentils or chickpeas.
Alongside cooking, participants are exposed to personal stories, pleasant oriental music, and seasoning with the aromas of cumin, betel nut, turmeric, and dried lemon.
The atmosphere is warm, homely, and at times nostalgic – like visiting grandma on a Friday. Participants cook together, taste, learn secrets passed down from generation to generation, and end with a festive meal together.
